Story
On an island of haves and have-nots, teenager John B recruits his three best friends to search for a legendary treasure tied to his father’s disappearance. Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, and their “OBX” co-stars wonder what the best lines are from their popular Netflix series. It was filmed in Charleston, South Carolina; It was originally supposed to be filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina.
This show is ridiculously unrealistic, but honestly, I don’t even care
It’s obviously not supposed to be the most serious show of all time, so I’m totally fine with it being completely over the top. The lead actors are very easy on the eyes and are doing a decent enough job with their acting (nothing spectacular, of course). The actors are too old for the roles they’re playing, until Sarah said she was only 16, I wasn’t entirely sure how old they were supposed to be.
But hey, this isn’t anything new
Casting actors of the right age is really hard, so I can’t deduct any points for that. I’m not completely done with it yet, but so far it’s fun, fast-paced, entertaining. Edit: After finishing the show, I CAN’T WAIT for season 2.
Netflix, you’ve done it again!
It got SO MUCH better with each episode, and honestly it ended up feeling like a really high-quality production, and is great preparation for a possible second season. What impressed me the most was how well-written the dialogue was, it was really believable. If you can ignore the fact that they don’t look like 16 at all, they definitely act like a bunch of dumb 16-year-olds.
