Story
Decades after their 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament fight, Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, now middle-aged, are once again martial arts competitors. During the filming of The Karate Kid, the late director John G. The crew behind Cobra Kai dug through the studio archives and found a bunch of never-before-seen clips that they were able to include in the series as flashbacks. One of them shows Zabka’s real mother from multiple angles in the stands, which wasn’t released until 2018.

Many people believe that Miyagi’s name on his tombstone is a continuity error, as in Karate Kid 4 (1994) his name is Keisuke, but the sign Chozen previously gave him in Karate Kid 2 (1986) read Nariyoshi. This means that The Next Karate Kid changed its name, while Cobra Kai kept the name he was given previously. Interestingly, however, the name given in Karate Kid II was not Miyagi’s original first name. In Karate Kid (1984), Miyagi’s first name briefly appears as Hideona on Miyagi’s dog tag attached to the keys to the 1948 Ford that Daniel received as a birthday present.
I can’t believe how much I love Cobra Kai
As seen on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon: Anthony Mackie/Ralph Macchio/Kiry Shabazz (2018). I originally thought it was going to be a bland kids show. But it’s not, all fans of the original trilogy will love this. It takes place 34 years after the events of the first film and the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, and it follows his luck with Johnny Lawrence (William Zavala) as he tries to get his life back on track and open the famous Cobra Kai dojo.
He’s an absolute shooting star here!
This reignites his rivalry with the successful Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio). I can’t stress enough how good Zabka is here. It’s a shame he hasn’t become a bigger star over the years because here he seems like he can pull off a performance. Again, if you’re a fan of the original trilogy, watch this.
I promise you’ll love it!
